Last Stop Fuel Guide

Protect Last Stop bus fuel by checking the burner, reserving efficient sources, reading the gauge, planning terminals, and avoiding waste.

Fuel is a route budget: every optional stop, idle drive and recovery detour spends the bus’s ability to reach the next terminal. Current community walkthroughs consistently protect Gas Cans, use the burner on the bus, and treat low fuel as a bigger run threat than low-value loot. Exact gains for Gas, Coal, bodies or other accepted items need current in-game measurement.

Identify the live fuel system

Find the burner or fuel interaction on the current bus and read the gauge or percentage shown by the interface. Inspect a candidate fuel item before using it. Confirm the item is accepted and watch the gauge change once.

Do not assume every combustible-looking object works. Record the exact item name, amount before and after, bus state, server date and method used. One accepted item proves compatibility, not permanent efficiency.

Protect efficient fuel first

Community guides describe Gas Cans as the main reserve and warn against selling them. Coal is also reported as usable but less efficient for its space in some routes. Bodies are reported as accepted by the burner in a current walkthrough. Treat all exact efficiency claims as community observations until reproduced.

Keep the best confirmed fuel away from sale cargo. Use lower-efficiency emergency fuel only when it prevents a breakdown or preserves a better reserve for a known long leg.

Refuel before the warning controls the run

Check the gauge at departure, after a long leg, and before an optional detour. A current guide reports a low-fuel warning around ten percent, but the live interface should decide the actual threshold. Do not make emergency warnings the normal refill schedule.

At a terminal, estimate the next leg from recent consumption and leave a safety margin. Unknown checkpoints, pathing delays or a repair detour can consume more than an ideal route.

Use the burner safely

Approach with the intended fuel separated from protected items. Community walkthroughs report that dropping fuel directly into the burner can be faster than holding an interaction, but test the current behavior with one item before committing the reserve. Keep players clear so the item is not grabbed or misdirected.

After fueling, confirm the gauge changed and the item disappeared for the intended reason. Do not dump objective items, ammunition or a rare material near the burner while experimenting.

Buy fuel with sale proceeds

Selling is useful when cash becomes mobility. At a terminal, protect existing fuel, sell true surplus, and buy the amount needed for the next route before optional weapons or decoration. Read the current price rather than an old table.

If the team repeatedly reaches a terminal nearly empty, shorten detours and improve the departure reserve. More loot is not profit when it costs the bus’s last fuel to collect.

Coordinate driver and fuel manager

Assign one player to watch the gauge and announce thresholds. The driver should call planned detours; the fuel manager should say whether the reserve can support them. Store fuel where both can reach it without mixing it into sale cargo.

In solo play, check at every safe stop and keep one emergency source accessible. In a squad, avoid four players feeding the burner at once because duplicate use makes measurement and reserve tracking impossible.

Measure efficiency without guessing

Use the same bus and stable state. Record starting gauge, add one item, record the result, then travel a repeatable distance if the interface supports it. Repeat before claiming a value. Vehicle variants, upgrades and updates can affect the result.

Do not turn the official travel badge thresholds into fuel-distance conversion. Traveller badges track cumulative distance, not a fuel rate.

Recover from low fuel

Stop optional looting, search existing bus storage, and check players for reserved fuel. Use the best confirmed available source, then route directly toward the next fuel opportunity. Avoid starting a boss or Hospital detour while the bus cannot safely continue.

If completely empty, determine whether the current stop can produce an accepted item or whether the run is stranded. Do not sell the repair or objective plan for a speculative fuel claim without testing one item first.

Fuel record fields

Use item name, source, accepted method, observed gauge gain, bus variant, update date, space cost, terminal price and evidence status. Keep unknown efficiency blank. Link fuel items to What to Sell so they are protected at terminals.

Evidence level: the bus-building loop is Official. Gas Can priority, coal/body behavior and quick burner use are Community reported/corroborated. Exact values, distance efficiency and variant effects need in-game testing, checked September 18, 2026.
